"A cheap luxury car with some punch!"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

The car started missing bad so I had to get a set of spark plug wires which were close to $60.

The belt tensioner pulley bearing went out unknowingly. It went a whole summer and soon discovered a hole actually wore into the motor. A new bearing and cold weld fixed that.

For some reason the motor idles really high. (I think it's a vacuum leak)

Just recently all interior and dash lights and radio won't work.

General comments?

These are beautiful cars. Mine is the loaded model with sunroof and awesome leather interior. Tons of room everywhere. The air suspension is awesome, I never had a smoother ride. The motor is also very well suited. There is plenty of power from the overhead cam V8 and going to the rear wheels is just cool. These are among the quicker cars on the road. I definitely would love to have a new one.

I have got a car just like yours, and I also have to agree that it is a SMOOTH ride. I go over bumps and hills and you can barley feel them. I love it, all my friends have 4 cylinders and my V8 can take them all. Just wanted to say that you are right about the things you wrote.

I bought my Grand Marquis four years ago with 102,000 miles on it. Other than valve seals, it has been trouble free. I drive it 120 miles per day back and forth to work and average about 25 miles per gallon. It now has 238,000 miles on it. I have been so happy with it, that we just bought a new one. Even with the new one, I still drive "Goldie" every day just like always. Easily the best car I've ever owned, bar none...

I just bought a 2 door 87 grand marquis ls myself a couple of months ago with 120k on the clock. Scored it rust free for 900 from an old neighbor who bought it new in 1987 and only drove it back and forth to Florida. I'm a young 20 year old college student who bought this car with the intentions of only driving a short time while I rebuilt the motor in my 93 eagle talon (cheap import garbage).

Now, seven months later, I love this car! Its never left me stranded, or even had a single problem. It glides down the road with speed, grace, and style, and I plan to treat to upgrades in the near future. Not to mention its the most comfortable car I ever drove and my friends love going for cruises in it.

As for the talon which ended up in close to 3500 in repairs in the 11 months I have owned it (not to mention left me stranded 5 times), will get a newspaper ad along with nice "For Sale" sign instead of a new engine. The money will only go into a real car, my Mercury Grand Marquis LS.
