Bought it used, so only minor problems. The original owner had to replace the timing belt/chain at 60K, I had to replace the alternator at 80K. I have some intermittent electrical problems that do not interfere with normal driving, but are entertaining.
Pretty quick, especially with the all-wheel drive for traction. Good in snow, unless it's more than 5-6 inches deep and it hits the underside of the car - then I wish I had a Jeep. Handles well. Some turbo lag, but you really know it when it kicks in.
I wanted an Eagle Talon since the first time I laid eyes on one when I was dating my now husband, and after 9 years of marriage he bought me a '91 model.
I'm so in love with this car. One word... PERFECTION... just like the one I showed him.
As long as there is an Eagle Talon I will own one.
I've got a '92 eagle talon tsi awd it has been sitting for some time, but I knew the moment I saw the car it had potential. I have turned it into my project. I pulled the motor and rebuilt it, replaced the crank took out the balancing shafts and gave her a new set of bearings. I was surprised at how much difference it made to the performance. a tip is to label the various vacuum hoses and electrical connections. I had a hard time remembering where they all went. now that she has a "fresh" motor I can start playing with her power I believe they can put out as much as 400 hp which is my new goal.
When I was about 8, my sister had a 91' Eagle Talon TSi, and I fell in love with it. It was fast, I called it "Big Red" because it was a small red car and it made no sense. Well just recently I got a white 91' Talon, and it is just as I remember it. I love how you sit in it and everything is higher. I think it kind of feels like a cockpit of an airplane or something. I love how everything is at your fingertips, and I just love it. My friends always complain because the backseat has very little leg room. I can honestly say that my car halls, but. And I will admit I push it real hard, but hey what do you expect, I'm a Teenager.
Since I first saw an Eagle Talon I have wanted one. I purchased my Talon brand new in 1992. I love this car. My friends love this car. Even my mother loves this car. Although I find that it does not drive very well under 120km. It seems to me the faster the car goes the better it handles. Such is life.
I am at the point in my life were I must sell the car, and boy is that difficult. I have tried to sell it for about three years now, but every time I get into the car out of storage for the winter and just take a test drive I find that I cannot sell. This time I really mean it, I am going to sell that darn car... but just a little test drive first.
I decided that the Eagle Talon TSI was the car for me when it was redesigned around 1991. I was back in high school back then so I didn't have the cash for it. Six years later, I finally got a 1993 TSI. That was one of the better decisions.
The car handled great in the Buffalo, NY snow storms, and was decent on gas back then. Too bad they discontinued all the platforms, I was hoping to have the collection of all the years of Eagle Talon TSI.
I bought my 92 tsi new. Beat it, wrecked it, fixed it, sold it, bought it back, beat it and wrecked it again!!! And my advice to you is its fun to drive fast, but not while drunk. The car is but a memory, but my dream lives on. Someday we will unite again... in car and person heaven.
I bought that 92 tsi from that guy, beat it wrecked it and then fixed it and sold it back to him for more than what I paid. Ha ha, sometimes I think I'm the smartest person on this planet, no offense to you people of course. Anyway, although I didn't wreck it I did travel dangerously fast and wrecked a few lawn gnomes. My advice don't be the guy I bought that car from. The guy was a loser, I mean who uses panty hose for a fan belt? Dummy.
I own a 1992 AWD TSI, electric blue, fully loaded. I Have owned the Talon for almost three years, have pulled the engine three times, and am about to drop it back in completely rebuilt. The car always breaks, but now it's pretty much bulletproof. I'm anxious to see how it goes. It was always fast, but with all the mods I just made, I'm smokin' Vipers. I'll never sell my Talon. Ever. never. ever.
I have recently bought a 1992 eagle talon tsi awd for only about $2500 and it was fully loaded with only 60,000 miles on it and to make things better it has a blow off valve which makes the baby whistle when the turbo kicks in I would say that this car is one of the best cars I've owned. the only down side is that the transfer case went and it cost me 3gs, but all in all this car eats other cars when I race em.
I just recently bought a 1992 eagle talon Tsi, it is a super fast car, however when I got it the car over heated on me, the computer or fuel injectors must be messed up, because when I start it up one time it will run just fine. Then the next time I start it up it will basically act like it's red lining at about 5,000 rpm, it's ridiculous. If anyone can get me any ideas on how to boost up the power fast n easy let me know, I'll do almost anything, but NOS for now. The problem I am running into is that everyone at my school is like oh... My neon could beat that peice of crap, or that peice of crap actually is still allowed on the street, these comments give me the advantage of beating all of them in a race, the only thing I need is some mods so I will definitely smoke them. Also if anyone has any good ideas on why my engine is acting up like that/ if you have any ideas for mods on it, please email me at Need4speed5307@aol.com thanks
I had bought a 92 eagle talon and the previus owner screwed it up it's a auto with od and it runs like crap and I don't know why. I have to shift it like a manual tran. does any one have a idea I already replaced the trans and both of them do the same thing won't drive good at all and the car is terrable on gas any ideas please email me at mikeysmcomcastnet
I was wondering if anybody could give me some good advise. I just bought a 92 Talon turbo for $350, it is not in running conditions. The guy I bought it from said it needed the Heads to be worked on. I heard it start once and it sounded bad. We tried to test drive it, but the car made a loud noise and it hardly had any power. Should I fix the heads on the car or would it be easier to drop a new engine in it? The car has 133,000 miles in it.
Most eagle talons have problems with their heads at around 100,000miles. all you need to do is pull the head and change the valves and timing belt.
Man, My brother let his friend drive his Talon and as I was standing on the balcony I heard that car hit 5000RPM I called him and I was pissed and told him not to do that again. I heard it hit 5000RPM.
I've had my eagle talon 91 turbo awd for almost a year now. I got it for 1000$ at an auction. Its in mint cont, leather interior, power everything, I love it! I will admit, me and my friends drove it pretty hard in the summer. A lot of things have went on it, but I'm pretty sure it was all our fault. Radiator, alternator, Exhaust (ran over something). We also drove it across a couple provinces and did that a couple of times :S. Anyways! now the problem is that, I have no power what so ever when I first turn on the car. I can't go over 40 Kms with my foot all the way down and my Boost arrow at full. Its not till I've driven it at least 10 minutes that I can get it past 50 Km. Then after it goes fine, and can go at top speeds. I think it might be the Turbo, or does anybody else have any ideas? If so, can you please e-mail me?! at allisonvokes@hotmail.com THANK YOU!! =)
