1992 Chevrolet Cavalier Z24 from North America - Comments

"This is an awesome car and I highly recommend it"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Had to replace water pump.

Had to replace battery.

Had to replace automatic window roller.

Had to replace hood release cable.

General comments?

The car performs better then most any family sedan coupe/performance model you can buy. It handles tight and smoothly. The car has amazing torque through the front wheels with 185 ft-lbs @ 3200 RPM a meager 140 HP @ 4200 RPM is not as bad as you may think as the car only weighs 2600 lbs.

I did have to replace 4 components, but all were relatively cheap and that comes with a 10 year old car plus the fact that I added over 15,000 kilometers in 7 months.

Which brings me to the obvious point, I love the car. Think about it, I put 15,000 kilometers on it in 7 months.

One of the nicest looking cars in the genre for 1992. I would be so bold to say it is the nicest car you can get for the money.

Did I mention the torque? If properly kept up you won't notice hills in fact you might feel the desire to put on the gas and accelerate when you come to hill the way I always do =P"

The only problem is you may want to drive it a little too much...

I Loved My Cavalier and I miss it a lot I hit a 6 point buck at 87MPH and I just can't find another one like it. I know drive a Taurus (parents bought it for me) and feel like an idiot not having that torque like the Z24.

Just bought a 1992 Z24 with 51,000 original miles on it. I couldn't believe those were actual miles. I only paid 2500 dollars for this beaut of a car. Didn't actually know what I had until I drove it. I love this car. Don''t make 'em like this anymore... I will be sure to baby this one to last for the long haul.

I love my 1992 z24 cavalier I got it by trading a home stereo system and some car amps and all I have to do is put a new clutch and windshield in it. but other than that me and my brothers have blown hemis off the road with its acceleration. it's a beautiful car and ill never get rig of it.p.s. i love the 5 speed manual transmition.

Blown Hemi's off the road?? Boy are you dreaming!! That'll be the day when a 140 hp V-6 takes a hemi out... Get a life! These are good cars and they are fun but lets not get carried away people... The only time you'd beat a Hemi is when it is parked. Give an HONEST review not a pipe dream. I had one of these Z-24's with a 5 speed and it wouldn't beat any V-8 car like a 5.0 Mustang or a Camaro and DEFINATELY not a Hemi. It was a blast to drive, though, and you could easily speed-shift it through all the gears. Any 5.0 I raced would easily pull away after 2nd though... HONESTLY!!

This is too much!

Now boy racers in their little souped-up econo-boxes are bragging about "blowing Hemis off the road"!

The kid probably was speeding on the interstate and passed a Chrysler 300 base (190hp-2.7L), who was traveling at the speed limit.

If that's the case, once I "blew off" a Viper in my '87 Jetta! (The guy was putting along at about 50-55, and I was doing 65. Whoopee! Now I'm a man! Huh???

Okay there motormouth (s). Of course it doesn't beat it, but my Z24 is an ass kicker! I have taken many Sebrings and impalas out to lunch with this thing! and never a problem, amazing first car that is under-rated. PS I agree, the 5 speed manual is amazing!!!

I dunno, the car is seriously fast, but it IS NOT a race car. I easily blew past fast boys in dated sports sedans, but on the track, the fastest quarter mile time I could manage was 15.6, and that is with modifications. A tough street fighter, but NOT a race car. There's a reason why it's called a "mini-muscle" car. If you want muscle, for the same price pick up a 5.0 mustang, or a V8 camaro, or if you want sport, try the celica GT, or an older supra, but not this one. Don't get me wrong, I love mine to death, but I know the car's limits.
