"Generally a good car to drive for the money"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Passenger side central locking module

Air Con - Needed re-charge.

General comments?

Very comfortable car.

Don't like gear box as much as rod change Mk1 mondeo.

2nd gear notchy.

Not as quick as I thought V6 would be.

Engine sounds a little strange when accelerating.

I've had my Ford Mondeo 2.5 SI since new. Best vehicle I've ever had, including my new 320I BMW. Problems with two rear door remote locks (weak point) and tinny exhausts. 195000 on the clock, looks perfect, goes perfect, under 10 litres/100km. Never uses oil, best steering vehicle I've ever driven, same shocks as new. I will keep it for many more years. I've never found out where it was made. I live in South Africa and have been told Australia, Belgium and UK.

What a load of Ballocks. I have had a 2.5 V6 SI from new 1998 and I cannot rate it highly enough. The engine pulls like a train, the brakes are the absolute Dogs Ballocks, the handling is outstanding for a five door family hatchback.

What I like most of all about my car is when it is at traffic lights and some young boy racer in his or her Corsa, Punto, Saxo or some piece of crap thinks that they are sitting next to a 16V or 2litre. When the lights change the mighty Mondo roars off down the road leaving them sniffing my exhaust.

The only major problem I have had since I bought the car. was the steering rack had to be replaced after the council forgot to fill a pothole. Apart from routine servicing the car has never seen the garage.

Insurance can be a sore point. I am now paying £440 per annum full comp. Shop around. Although the 2.5 Cougar is only a group 14 instead of 16 on the Mondo. Even I can't figure that one out.

So in conclusion if you are looking for a great all round car. That goes like stink, Holds the road like the brown stuff to a blanket, and will cruise at 100mph all day (although you will watch the fuelgauge go down very quickly) The Mighty Mondo is the car for you.

Well I bought 2.5 v6 mondeo 98 model. so far I've replaced the exaust, da heaters don't work properly, the heated screen don't work propa, da power steering makes a lot of noise when I steer to da right, and the gears make a snapin noise when I change.

I've got a 10 year old one, which today did 120 mph with loads left. No shake, 4 up with a full tank. But the fuel did go down a bit quick! It's true though. Let the boys in saxos, et al, think it's a 2.0, then boot it.

Then its 'Bye girls'.

No problems, just front tyres, (just the weight of the engine I think), and, oddly, batteries. The thing about the passenger door remote locking is common though.

Better than my wifes pink KA anyway. lol.
