"The most reliable car ever!"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

With the exception of the heater matrix leaking and a door lock mechanism failing I can honestly say nothing has gone wrong with this car and nothing probably will!

One thing sadly, is the rust, I will be restoring the car over the next couple of years though.

General comments?

I would rate this as my favorite car ever, even though it's 24 years old it still has a fuel consumption of 50mpg on a long run (I actually ran it out and drove over 200 miles at just under 60mph to test this and then ran it out again) The seat are quite comfortable and the steering and cornering is great. I have 13" Alloys on it and a 10 CD Multi changer system all I need now is a nice steering wheel and I will have my car finished.

I hate modern cars because they feel so cheap. They are so complex in design that you can't do anything with them and they are full of plastic.

We have a 1979 Datsun 140Y which we have owned since new and nothing has gone wrong with that either. When you tell people nothing has gone wrong with a car over a 20 year period they think you're joking!! These Datsuns truly are excellent cars, however like yours, the bodywork is bad and has been welded. Are you in or have you heard of the Datsun Owners Club, I'm a member and it's a good club to be in as it's hard to find people who share such an interest as Datsuns!!! The website is www.datsunworld.com My email is borthage@hotmail.com if you want to get in touch!

We first bought this car in 1981, used with less than 50.000km on the clock.

The car covered more than 500.000kms the next 22 years with no problem at all. Four people including me learned how to drive and you all know how hard this thing is for the car.

NEVER asked anything no matter the hard use he got, specially from me when I was 18-20 hot-blooded and with no driving experience.

After a small leak at the gearbox from a stupid mechanic the car did 330km with very little oil, but the gearbox survived! Lived for another 4 years when the gearbox died and we sold the car for spares.

I really miss it...
