This was a wonderful for car for the first year and half I owned it. For the past year and a half I have literally paid for it again in repairs. I refuse to even look at another American car. My past three cars have been a Ford, a Chevrolet and this Chrysler product. I am very kind to my cars and take immaculate care of them, but these 3 vehicle have left me envious of friends with reliable imports.
I totally agree with your review. I had a 1995 and it was the biggest piece of junk. I'm glad to see someone else had the same problems or just problems period. This was the worst vehicle I ever owned.
I own a 1995 eagle vision and its gave me problems from the get go. we have replaced the engine at 28.000 miles and again at 85.000 miles and again at 180.000 miles and its out less than a week after the new engine went in. all the engines had the same problem rods would start knocking very bad. engines were replaced in Texas, Missoui, and here in Arkansas, otherwise we love the car and its going to get a new engine again, hope it holds up. oh buy the way we don't miss treat the engines, we baby them maybe to much.
I have a 1993 eagle vision 3.3 and it has 354,394 miles and is still on its first engine and transmission. it also still has great performance after all these years!!
We recently bought a 1995 Eagle Vision TSI and the check engine light started coming on and a few weeks later, as you are driving the car, accelerating or going at a steady speed, the car starts 'bucking' and almost shutting off, but doesn't. We took it in to our mechanic and he cannot figure out what is causing this. Has anyone else experienced this and knows the cause?
We have a 1995 Eagle Vision TSI and it is having a real bad time with the Transmission. About 18 months ago, or 10k miles, we replaced the computer, which solved the "bucking" & "Stalling" problem mentioned by the last posting. The AC core went out to the tune of $830. I would love to put this thing in it's grave, but it gets great mileage when it's running right and we own it of course along with it having a very smooth ride. If only it was our day to hit the lottery, I would still keep it and fully restore it. we may do that anyway since it's cheaper to do that than buy a new loss of worth from the car dealers.
I am not sure how old these postings are, but a few things to realize. Any vehicle over 120,000 miles is going to need some of the above mentioned maintenance. Also, the condition of the cars has something to do with how the previous owner treated it. I have recently bought a used 1995 Eagle Vision Esi with 95,000 miles, which runs great.
Also, Chrysler (LIKE ANY OTHER COMPANY) has their "weak points" on cars. Dodge transmissions in the mid 90's weren't exactly the pinnacle of drivetrain excellent at Dodge/Chrysler/Plymouth, esp in the minvans and sedan, which use roughly the same trasmission. Just a thought or two.
I love my Eagle and it treats you like you treat it, helps to remember that. Also, esp if it used, remember, you get what you pay for ;)
I have a 1994 Eagle Vision TSI I bought it used from a car dealership last year I've had problems with the car since it reached 140,000 I've had to replace the crank shaft sensor and the ignition coil. My headlights won't turn off so I have pull the fuses when the car isn't in use. My check engine light has came on recently and my car has started to cut off while I'm driving it. My transmition acts up when I'm acclerrating, also when I turn my AC off it makes a loud rattling noise, never again will I drive a Chrystler.
Hi! I have a Chrysler Vision year- 95 and I have no problems with the engine at all. The only problem I have is with the radio/Cd-player. When I start the car or just turn the ignition on, the display shows. Wait 2 hours!!??
Is there anyone here who could give me a solution, advice to fix this problem?
Please mail me at jasa102@hotmail.com
By the way, we here in Sweden love American cars :)
Hi, I have Chrysler Vision 1996, the car is very good, I had only one problem with it since I got it, it was shutting engine down when it wanted, but I replaced small part in the back of engine, I have no idea what is the name of it, its like small chip which is near crankshaft on 3 wires. Just changed transmission oil, and everything else is OK. I have propane in the car as well, so it is taking about 13 liter per 100 km outside the city, and in the city it is about 16 liters. And with petrol it is about 15 liters for 100 km.
So people this tape of car I offer you to buy, I love it. if you have any problems with your car, let me know, maybe I can help you. my e-mail is simpsonas19@yahoo.co.uk.
Not so many cars like that in Lithuania, but i ovne it and i am happy about it :)
I own a 1994 Eagle Vison TSi and I love it. It has around 170,000 miles on it with the original engine and transmission. I beat the living daylights out of this car and the only problem besides the normal wear and tear of an old vehicle is the transmission will slip when punching the gas in weather below 30 degrees. This car makes shows that you can get performance and real use in American cars!
I have a eagle vision that doesn't start on very cold or damp days.. do you know whats wrong?
My car is Chrysler Eagle Vision 1997m. 3.5l.
Every time I step on the gas pedal, whether I am at a complete stop or am coasting, my car will make a popping noise, and I have no idea what it is... Can somone take an educated guess at what this might be? Write me maddoxys@yahoo.com.
I currently have a 1997 Eagle Vision TSI. It has 115,500 miles and the check engine light is on. Both my regular and transmission mechanics indicate transmission code. This code indicates the trans is running hot. At 1st, my Trans mechanic suggested the sensor could be bad and I might get by with replacing the sensor (about $350.00 to replace-but no guarantee) The car shifts fine. By reading his codes, he indicates the lower gear clutches have 15-25% remaining, high gears 30-45% remaining, thus his recommendation is to rebuild/replace (of course). I didn't know you can get this information from the computer. If the sensor(s) are bad, could the readings be faulty? This has never had a problem shifting, slipping or indicating a Trans problem... just the check engine light that prevents me from registering the car. (need smog certificate)
Since I live near Long Beach in California I am unable to get the car smog certified (for registration) with a check engine code on.
The car is fully loaded and has good paint exterior and leather seats are immaculate. Moon Roof, CD/Cass/AM/FM, Pwr everything, Alarm, Keyless entry, Trip computer etc... all work great. Has chrome plated alloy rims. My only option would be to sell the car to someone in a state without the smog requirement or turn it in to the state program to retire the vehicle. Has anyone had a similar problem and could this be fixed without replacing the Trans?
All other components are in such good shape, I'm considering parting out the car if it's worth more to someone else than what it is to me based on what the State will give me to retire it. (up to $1000.00) Not sure what I will get until I go down that path. Don't know what determines when you will get the full $1,000.00 Anyone know? Anyway, if someone is interested or can help out with some of these questions, feel free to email me (gottheblues@ca.rr.com) or reply to this comment on-line. I have photos of the full vehicle and plan to post on craigslist.com Thank you, Scott.
My recommendation: NEVER, EVER BUY A CHRYSLER PRODUCT!
Many think that American cars in general are poorly built. But, suffice it to say that I have a 1989 Pontiac Bonneville that I purchased new that has been virtually bullet-proof in the over 260,000 miles I have driven it.
My "money-pit" is a 1994 Eagle Vision TSI that I also purchased new... paid cash so we would not have any monthly payments. Keep in mind that this now 13-year old car has under 100,000 miles. It received the same care as the Pontiac (i.e oil/filter changes & tire rotations every 3000 miles, parked in a nice enclosed garage, interior and exterior very well maintained, etc.).
In the first year, the Vision (AKA the nightmare) was in the dealer's shop 39 days. In that first year, the dealer replaced:
- Power antenna (motor would not work at all)
- Entire exhaust system (all kinds of rattles and noises)
- Right-front speaker
- Numerous factory recall items
- And the BIGGIE: The ENTIRE climate control system due to a cornucopia of problems, some so strange that the A/C technician exclaimed on numerous occasions, "That's not possible!"
The Climate Control system was replaced on the 8th visit to the shop for numerous heating & A/C issues, each visit tying up the car for 1 - 2 days, and then over 2 weeks for the actual replacement.
Turned out that the 39 days at the dealer that first year was just a bit short of qualifying for coverage under the California Lemon Law. Year 2 brought more problems:
- More A/C - Climate Control System problems
- Some Factory-recalled suspension components
- Complete failure of the transmission requiring replacement @ 16,000 miles
- More exhaust system rattles (which are still there)
The extended warranty then ran out, because of time, not mileage, since we couldn't treat it as our "everyday" car because of its unreliability.
At about 40,000 miles, power windows and seats began failing. At about 50,000 miles, the spark plug wiring needed replacing, which required removing and reinstalling the intake manifold to gain access. Then, at 60,000 miles, the water pump froze. Fortunately, when the water pump went south and broke the timing belt, it occurred when my wife tried starting the car and that saved the valves and pistons from damage.
At about 65,000 miles, the power steering fluid reservoir developed a leak. I discovered that you can't buy just that little plastic tank from Chrysler nor most Auto Parts dealers... you need to buy the entire steering gear assembly... Yikes! Fortunately, one of the local Auto Parts I contacted felt sorry for me and sold me just the reservoir from a new steering gear assembly kit.
Now, the car has an intermittent overheating problem. For the past few weeks, it's really been the mystery machine. One day it will overheat after driving 3 miles, then it will be OK for several days where we have driven as much as 100 miles in one day without any problems.
I took it to the repair shop that did some work on it in the past. They had nothing good to say about Eagles, Concordes, Intrepids, and Chrysler in general, and advised me to just get a new car! I can't afford a car payment at this time, so I'm stuck.
In a last-ditch, futile attempt to help this wretched beast, this past weekend I flushed the cooling system, replaced the thermostat, and refilled with new coolant. Today, it can't go more than 3 miles without spewing all that new coolant. I'll probably get cited by the EPA for dumping toxic waste! Tomorrow it is being towed to a very reputable repair shop. I don't expect the repair bill to be less than $2,000.
As I have said many times before, "You couldn't make me buy another Chrysler product even if you held a gun to my head!" They make great-looking cars, but when you put a dress on a pig, it's still a pig!
Signed,
Extremely Frustrated in California.
I recently (11/06) bought a 1995 Eagle Vision TSi (her name is Noel :) ). When I bought her I had to get two new tires for the front ($79 because the store messed up) and I had to have the back piece replaced because the passenger's side reverse lens-cover was missing and the whole piece was broken ($250 including shipping) When I went to have her inspected I found out that she needed new brakes all around. She ended up needing new brakes, calipers, and rotors all around ($1400). She only has 99,000 miles on her, and most of them are from me. When the nice weather started to be everyday she began to overheat, it turned out to only be the Thermostat which I had replaced. Now she runs beautifully, I love my car! Even though she has a crack in her windshield right now (which is being fixed this weekend - ($300) ). I still love my car!
Cars are kind of like pets, they treat you the way you treat them, if you're good to them, they'll be good to you. If you treat them badly, they won't run right for you.
Have I mentioned that I love my car?
