Steering rack went at 70000.
Clutch went at 75000.Ballast resister went and kept blowing Condenser and/or Points so I converted ignition to early Sierra electronic.
Completely wonderful classic car. By the time I had finished with it it was perfect.
I've had mine a month now and I completely agree. A 5spd Capri 2.0S makes a fantastic every-day classic. Parts are cheap, it looks cool, is relatively fast, very enjoyable on wet roundabouts, in fact I like everything about this car.
Basically a great performance/economy balance and you can pick one up for at least a grand less than an equivalent 2.8.
I have just bought myself a ford Capri 2.8 injection special it is at the moment costing me a lot of money, but I only paid £600 for it and it is in excellent condition body work etc. My original car was the mk3 Escort Ghia, but now I have the Capri I have a new love in my life. Its all original and 18 years on it can still turn heads economy wise it's quite surprising performance amazing I've even started to like the rear wheel drive (once I stop frightening myself)
Bought a 2.0s 1982 with 41k miles on the clock and almost no rust, at only 17 this car is awesome fun and fast, with minor mods (around £500) this car can handle and have some more go to it! awesome car.

Until recently I had a 1981 2.0GL, it had only one owner and 60000m on the clock, I fitted a Kent Cams RL30 cam and Ashley big-bore exhaust and it finally gave up with just over 187000m on it... i payed £700 for it and owned it 9 years, it never broke down or went wrong, I serviced it myself and do I regret not keeping it?...yes I do!!!...if anyone wants a cheap classic car, go buy one, you'll never regret it!!!
