31st Jul 2002, 15:02

"At first glance an attractive car, which turned out to be a poor purchase"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Oil leak from rear of engine, difficult to locate.

Oil pressure switch required replacing.

Two rear silencers fitted within 1 year of ownership.

Engine management light came on and car would not go over 40 m.p.h ,Vauxhall computer test advised EGR & Lambda Sensor faulty quoting £300 for parts.

Front brake pads seized 3,000 miles after ownership and had to be replaced.

Paint peeled from nearside windscreen area, wrote to Vauxhall asking if it was covered under the bodywork warranty advised it was not.

General comments?

I thought the Corsa with its low Road Tax and Group 3 Insurance would be an ideal first car, it was a mistake to purchase this car as it was very

un-reliable and Vauxhall customer service and follow up is very poor, I would never buy another Vauxhall again.

NEVER BUY THIS CAR. I have had a Corsa 1998 merit model for 6 months and spent £1500 on repairs. The engine light has came on with Lambda Sensor gone the car will not go past 60m.p.h. (on a good day) it has absolutely no power. The oil is leaking from the rear of the engine which sounds like a bus!
