1985 Oldsmobile Calais from North America - Comments

"A first car dream"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

My starter went at about 110000 km.

The body has started to rust badly.

The exhaust pipe is to large for the original catalytic pipe, making the pipes fall apart occasionally.

The motor mounts have just started to come loose in the last few months.

General comments?

Great first car.

Extremely reliable.

Fast accelleration and good handling.

I think that the 1985 Calais is a pretty good car its actually my 4th car I've owned because the other beater cars I've purchased never lasted that long. I am fairly rough on the vehicle and drive it like a sports car but it manages to cope fairly well, with only a few minor problems. I've had my fuel pump and water pump blow and also my cat converter rusted out, minor electrical problems frequently blows my radio fuse and my passenger window motor recently stoped working. but all of these are easy fixes, doesn't handle to well in heavy snow but it has enough power to pull though thick coatings at low speeds once snow has settled.
