Must refill air conditioning refrigerant once a year.
Back air unit is not draining condensation, beginning to smell.
Have had to replace several batteries.
If it weren't for the warranty, I would have been in a deep money pit.
After all the replacements, we have not had many problems, just maintenance. I worry that another catastrophic issue looms on the horizon.
My plan is to run it as long as possible until the vehicle is no longer financially affordable.
I will probably trade in on a Ford Windstar or Honda.
Get the Honda. I had a 1995 Odyssey (purchased new) until July 2002. Other than general maintenence items like brakes, tires, etc., I replaced a headlight, a taillight and a dashboard light. It was in for one recall that took 10 minutes to fix. Even though it was out of warranty, Honda did it to avoid problems. Read the other comments about the Windstars.
Unfortunately for us we bought used, 95,000, and used the COAST TO COAST BUMPER TO BUMPER. 2nd Mistake, ours is your brother. only the AC went and after replaced at our cost still does not work right,,, had to get an extra rear spring put in the van road so low, and stupidly we are on the third tranny, we paid for 1 and a half... Worst vehicle ever. I'd buy a Ford before another Chrysler.. PS also had to replace the front floor, even though we had it sprayed...Terrible.
I'm very sorry to hear about your problem. I have a 1993 Dodge Grand Caravan SE and I have had little to no problems with it. I bought it used and I've put on over 100,000 kilometres on it. It's needed some repairwork, but the van seems to be very reliable. I hope for better success in your future purchase.
