There's rust on the rear left wheel well, but one weekend of work will do to fix it.
Used to drive a Mazda 626 with all the gadgets, but it doesn't come near the Scorpio in comfort although this is the base CLX model.
I was looking for a good replacement for an american car because I used to own Pontiacs and US-Fords.
The Scorpio is no Crown Victoria, but in my opinion it comes very close to it without high fuel costs (at least here in Europe).
After almost ten years the original!!! exhaust system has to be replaced because of major rust problems between the mufflers.
On the front axle the rubber bearings have to be replaced due to a constructional problem with this part of the vehicle.
Front brake discs and pads also are worn out.
All in all no big deal, this is what age asks.
I'm still very satisfied with my Scorpio, needs no oil or water, ride comfort and reliability are superb.
Fuel consumption on the autobahn is about 7.5 liters per 100 km (or 31 mpg) at 130 km/h and 9 - 10 liters (about 25 - 26 mpg) around town.
Had the new front brake discs and pads installed easily.
Also replaced the exhaust system including both mufflers.
Very easy and comfortable thing to do.
Did not install an original ford system, but one made by "Walker", cost me less.
Hi everyone, just bought myself a 1992 Ford Crown Victoria. Hope it runs as good as the Scorpio does.
