A great multi-purpose car for the money, and very relialable. It can tow, has a little go, a little style, great on highway, and acceptable in town.
Wosrt thing about it is bumpy ride in city! Don't go over a bump with a cup of coffie or you'll be wearing the coffee...
I do not understand how people can say these cars ride bad, I find with the independent rear suspension they ride excellent.
I purchased my 1994 Thunderbird LX, with the v8 engine, in late '94, and with about 10k miles. I noticed some bumpiness in the ride, especially when compared with my previous 1985 Mercury Cougar. However, I would hardly say it was a bad ride. When the time came to replaced the tires, I opted for a new, but cheap, set of tires that seemed to soften the ride a bit. Overall, this Thunderbird was a pleasant experience for nearly 10 years of ownership; however, they were not headache free years.
