I have another problem to add to the list of problems for the Nissan Skyline TI. My Airconditioner's gas leaks frequently, I suggest all owners/buyers get that checked.

We had the same problem with our air conditioner.. we have a 1987 3.0 GXE Automatic Skyline. Also, we found that it was a bit expensive as far as petrol consumption, so we had a gas conversion put on and now its more economical at almost half the price per week. Another problem was the handbrake, the inside of it had to be replaced, it was rusted to the insides surrounding it, but after 14 years who's handbrake wouldn't do that (especially with me learning in it a few years ago). I love this car, its my fathers 33rd car in 37 years of driving & hes had this car the longest out of all his cars (mum's proud). I learnt to drive in it and we've had nissans since I was born, I trust the name and I love the cars, especially the skyline :)

One of the main issues concerning the Australian made Skyline with the RB30 six cylinder engine is a serious problem with differential whine, & some differential failures. Nissan fixed a lot of them, but check carefully before you purchase. If you buy privately, & when it comes to the test drive, make sure that all accessories are turned off in order to hear the differential. If it is at a high pitch at, say, 88km/h in 4th gear ratio (automatic) or 5th gear (80km/h), be aware.

This is the only recurring trouble spot on this particular model.

I've been a little hard in my Skyline 3.0 ti, been through 2 airflow meters! First one was bung a week after I brought the car from the dealers, got a second hand one, 2 years later bung again now, it sounds like a stupid rotary! Now have to get another second hand one, but can't afford it now (mind you, being hard on a car reaps its devastations)! But I got magnatec oil and 2 bottles of lube up in it! Plus I got extractors and big bore! YEAH!!!

I've found the 7 3/4 LSD in the 87 Skyline Silhouette very whiny at low revs and slow cruise say 90km. But she is still my baby. I also had major problems getting a front skirt for her after I had to put her in a ditch to miss a stray kid :' (. The trip computer back-light seems to fail regularly. but other than those problem she is super smooth and a joy to drive.
