"The ultimate disposable car for those who have money to burn"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Air Conditioner compressor keeps blowing.

One day it blew while the mechanic was driving it out of the shop to where I was standing.

Lights go out intermittently.

Interior lights work on and off.

Buzzers work on and off.

Oil leak at the head.

Door Panels fall off.

Weatherstripping under hood comes off and pours water into passenger compartment.

General comments?

I am stuck with this vehicle even though I took great care of it.

The poorest built and backed car I have ever purchased. Shame on me. I will never purchase another Chrysler product again.

I have a 1999 Plymouth neon high line 4 door 2.0L SOHC, I bought it as a demo car with 800 miles on it from the dealer. It being my first car was taken care of, as I got older (the car was around 4 years old) I began to get more aggressive with it. Took the exhaust off of it, raised and lowered it numerous times, went 50-60MPH down dirt country roads, raced with friends. The car to say the least has now taken a beating. It approaches 6 years old, and the only problem I have had with it was the faulty head gasket that Chrysler engineered and installed specifically for this 2.0L engine, I knew about it before it began leaking because my sister had to have her 2.0L in her stratus replaced because of the same problem, the oil leak at the head is an enginerring flaw. It cost me around $800 to have someone else fix it. The gasket cost around $12, all the money is tied up in labor. I wholeheartedly disagree with you about the quality of this vehicle. Mine has put up with my aggressive driving (I usually go 90-100 on the interstate) time and time again, never giving out of me. This is a great first car as the brakes and tires are quite inexpensive ($20 for front brakes can get all four tires for under $200) I have never experience any problems with water leakage, or electrical/light failure of anykind. I urge you to keep in mind that in the days of mass production there are some lemons that will roll of the lines. Mistakes will be made. The Ford Focus is proclaimed as the most dependable car on the road, yet I know someone who has spent nearly $1500 worth of work under the hood just to keep his on the road. He has the right attitude, "I just got stuck with the lemon from that batch."

I would just like to say that I agree the neon has some expensive problems occasionally. However, I bought my neon with only 27 miles on it. I have been the only owner of it. I love it. It has taken me "up North" numerous times, I have traveled to the Black Hills numerous times and throughout Wisconsin when I went to school there. I rarely have had the oil changed and a typical 3000 mile maintenance. The Minnesota winters can get pretty rough and the neon keeps getting through them. She warms up quickly and I cannot complain about how she handles on the icy roads when you have to break fast. Like I said, The neon has some problems. But my goodness, my neon is now our family's "SUPER NEON" for the way it gets us through any problem.
