The head gasket blew at 6000 miles.
The brake lights stopped working at 6500 miles.
The car stalled during the winter 3 times.
Brakes had to be replaced.
Rack and Pinion steering needed to be replaced with Worm and Sector Manual steering.
This car is very slow. It only has 55 Horsepower. The ride is very bumpy. I am planning to get rid of it next year.
This review is fake anyone who reads it do not believe any of this I work at a Chevy dealer and these cars are bullet proof when it comes to reliability.
They are not bullet proof. I just took it for a bullet test and it fired right through the car and through the seats and across the car.
It was left by with twisted metal.
Hahahaha...Bulletproof My A**!!!
These cars are so crappy built (or should I say chucked it) with the most Nasty and Cheap Materials available.
I Had fro three years a 1999 Chevrolet Metro Hatchback 3-Door 1.0 Automatic. Replaced the Metro in 2002 for a Toyota Echo 2Dr Coupe.
The Metro It was Not just a Bad car itself, but also very Unreliable.
It's a cheap car, what were you expecting, leather and wood trim?
And the Echo is a very stupid-looking car, especially the two door!
I Wrote the third Comment.
I never said that I Was expecting Wood and Leather. And I was aware that, for being a Cheap Economy Car the Build Quality would not be that Good.
But I never saw such poor built Little Piece of Junk as the Metro.
With only 6 Months of ownership that car started to fall at pieces. I Had lots of trouble with that car. Being a complete Engine Failure due a Blown Head Gaskets at 32.000 Miles.
I Was just expecting something decent. Something that could be just a "Little Bit" Dependable. And the Metro wasn't. It was truly sad hence I had only one car and being my Daily Driver it was really disappointing, to experience so many problems.
My Toyota Echo runs fine since the day one and off course, for being a Cheap Economy Car I did have some few glitches. So far nothing serious happened with my Toyota.
About the looks of my Car.
Well...At least my car it's not so bland as the Sy Parrish Toyota Echo. My Car is Dark Red and my wife likes it; She think it's cute and I agree with her.
Taste is Taste Buddy, if you think it looks Stupid, is your opinion; I don't care too much for looks anyway.
Cheers!
The Metro was the best VALUE in a small, economical car that has ever been built. It was purely basic transportation with no frills and no thrills, but it WAS reliable and boy, did it go a LONNNNNNG way on a gallon of gas. Nothing made in the 90's could touch it for low cost transportation.
