The power window on the driver side always malfuntioned.
The driver side head lamp sometime off by itself or can't light up. I was told by the mechnical personnel that this is already an identified and confirmed problem by Proton, but, they can't do anything on it.
The dashboard got knocking sound. not so solid.
There are some strange sound from the power steering when evrytime I turn it.
The radio receiver is not good in reception.
The car alarm sometimes can't detect be detected. I need the continious pressing the alarm controller for almost 10 minutes sometimes to get it active.
The doors have different feel and sound whenever open or closing it.
I would really wish the manufacturer pay a lot of concern on their quality control procedure. Not just leaving those problem to the buyer later.
I have read and heard about Proton's double standard about export version cars and local consumption cars. I have not been into a Proton in UK and I cannot further comment about that. But I have noticed about the quality control between the 1.5s and the 1.8s. What I am trying to say is that a 1.5 Wira is supposed to be the same as the 1.8 Wira other than the engine. But there are vast, huge quality differences between them, from the quality of the power windows to the dashboard to some unknown squeaking sound and any little, but irritating "unperfectness" you can think of. Why is this? I heard from a friend (not sure how true this is, maybe you can clarify it for me) that Proton has a double standard policy on its parts and accesories. Those "not-so-perfect" parts are separated out and use for the 1.3s and 1.5s, while the good quality ones are used for the 1.6s and 1.8s. Is this true? I actually believe a little because I used to drive a 1.3 Satria, then I change to a Putra. The dashboard and power windows are supposed to be the same, right. Yes, the only LOOK the same, once using it, big difference. You should know what I mean. It's high time for Proton to review its whole QC policy. Don't forget the new Honda City is just RM10,000 more that the 1.6 Waja!!!
The gen 2 is supposed to be a wira replacement model, but ironically it has turned into a wira replaced model. this is because of the slow production, the higher price.
So gen 2 is definitely going into another disaster as it faces challenge from its own perodua and wira. Others will go for the more reliable waja. At the same time, we don't know how much mitsubishi contributes to gen 2. it is coincidental when mitsubishi pull out of proton, gen 2 production slowed.
On the other hand, thailand is becoming the car centre of the east, ironically, they don't even need a national car.
