1983 Holden Commodore VH from Australia and New Zealand - Comments

"Grab that 10 foot pole you might need it"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

What hasn't.

The dipstick had a problem and the dipstick spat out with oil all the time.

It eats petrol like like an Ethiopian at all you can eat at pizza hut.

The motor over heats so hot that you could cook your lunch on the bonnet.

General comments?

If you are thinking about a vh commodore auto don't bother get a manual if you have to.

Bill Gates would have trouble paying for a 400km trip you would have to stop at every sevice sation.

Get a te cortina if you need a six cylinder car.

You must have got a lemon because my VH has never had a problem, It is also good on juice.

Definately sounds like you have/had a dud VH. Oil spitting from the dipstick means a shot motor, and no doubt a stuffed carby too. If people maintained & serviced their cars properly all would be fine. My 1982 VH 3.3 auto is better on fuel & more comfortable then my mates 2001 VX V6 Commodore.

Agree with the above posters, the motor must have been shot big time. Service & preventative maintance anyone??.Geesh. My 1983 VH SLX 3.3litre auto is also good on fuel and puts many of my friends newer/new cars to shame in reliability, comfort and economy too. Love the VH.
