Ate alt/gen electricals on regular basis, nothing dealers did worked; blown fuses, melted wires, blown batteries, the works. Note this was actually a Hyundai in Mitsubishi badges.
Slow.
AC worthless.
Hard seats, cheap interior.
Looked good standing still.
Blown fuses constantly were the result of a bad
Voltage Regulator.. If your mechanics knew what
they were doing and checked the Technical service
bulletins they would have found this out. The ECUs
also had problems if their wires were burnt up.
By the way, all the Mitsu Precis from early 80s-1994
were also sold as HYUNDAI, but with a different body
on top, the rest was the same...
Hyundai started making their own Transmissions for the
Sonata versions and later transmissions and engines and
no longer used Mistu Trannies and Engines, blame
Mitsubishi for the problems, most start up car companies
sell other factories older models with their own badge.
The 2000-2003 Kia Optima is a 1999-2002 Hyundai Sonata
with a KIA badge.. Hyundai bought KIA...
Only difference, the interior TRIM levels...
My sister owned a '92 Mitsu Precis (bought in '94 I believe for $6,000)...and my father didn't realize fully what he had bought until he noticed a Hyundai logo on the engine (don't ask...he's usually very observant).
That car had the 4-speed manual and ran flawlessly throughout college... the only problem being the A/C, which went out in 2000, the year my sister got rid of the car.
Great little car!
