1988 Ford Telstar TX5 from Australia and New Zealand - Comments

"A very fun and cheap Turbo car"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

A few oil leaks, but nothing that is not general maintenance.

Electric window switches are a real bugger... had to get second hand ones from the wrecker a few times.

General comments?

This car in it's standard form is enough to have some fun with.

If you throw a 3" exhaust, K&N filter, and drop the suspension 2" the car is quite quick (enough to blow the V6 Holden's from the lights)

I have had a telstar tx5 giha for 2 years, it looks very nice and has all the mod-com that anyone would need. but under the bonnet, I have had continual problems, ranging from the alternator - to the radiator. and eventually I had to buy a new motor.

I also have a AT Telstar TX5. Its done 214000 kms, but it still is a top car. It can out-handle my mate on his Yamaha FJ750 around the corners. Iv'e spent $15000 on suspension and paint and it turns more heads than a monaro. Cheap thrills.

I have a 1985 Telstar TX5 turbo. the car has done over 360 000kms. The car is very fast and handles well through all corners. I found some technology used in the dashboard instruments out of the league for their time. In other words, other cars of the time did not have auto adjusting suspension, and of course swinging air vents!

If any one can tell me what kind of K&N air filter would be the best one for the model and performance It would be greatly appreciated. I have many modifications for the car, exhaust, extractors, new T22 turbo, type 3 Blow off valve and so on... any information relating to any of these please email me on xplode_wit_me@hotmail.com.

Cheers (A very very good first car for a P plater)
