"A teens dream street mod car"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

I bought it as a fixer upper. 300 not running, cost 25 bucks to fix, a fuseable link for the alternator, and a fuel pump. About 1300 miles later the engine was junk, rings blew, burned lots of oil. The 305 5.0 TBI had to go. I had a buddy that was getting rid of a rebuilt 5.7 350. The 350 rebuilt turned out to be a 355 5.8, new pistons, bigger cam, and a carb transfered to a honed TPI. I got the engine with mods for 900 bucks.

General comments?

The I love the looks of these cars. 3rd gen Camaros/Firebirds looked the best. Body kits were a must, the Camaros without body kits looked so bare. I love these cars, I'm going to find my z 5 speed someday.

I have an 89 RS with a 5 speed. I want to fix it up, but have no money... my brother in law crashed it after 202,324 miles and I need to re-do everything... Just one thing is there E-check in your state? If so how in the world did you get past them with that motor?!

305's and 350's can look identical... the only difference being the TPI system... but since it is factory you can prolly get away with it. I am sure the TPI system is much more efficent. Except that it falls on its face at 5000rpms...

I've got an '89 Chevrolet Camaro RS and it is in fair condition. I haven't driven it yet considering I'm only 12 years old. I was going to fix it and make a street rod out of it. I should be able to find parts compatible with it, but its been hard. I was hoping to fix it and modify it by the time I'm 18 or 21.
