Ignition coil and igniter failed at 150,300 miles. Repair cost $775 Toyota parts and labor.
Engine head seals leaking coolant.
Seal / Gaskets replaced twice before
engine head machined and rebuilt.
Total cost over $6,000 U.S. Dollars.
Front wheel bearings replaced, 1998.
Total cost $1,000 U.S. Dollars.
Distributor cap and spark wiring harness replaced twice due to coolant leak once and water contamination once.
Fuel pump failed at while driving during at highway speed at night. 1998.
Driver seat showing heavy wear and damage at top of left side bolster due to push off of left elbow when exiting the car.
Rear hatch cable release never has work properly.
This has been a wonderfully reliable car up until 1998.
All maintenance work was preformed by Toyota service mechanics with the exception of oil changes which I performed every 3000 to 6000 miles.
The car is currently running great after a substantial investment in repair costs north of $8,000.
I still love driving this car.
However, I think it's time to sell!
If you're selling the car, let me know. I am looking for a lightweight RWD car for SCCA Solo II. My email address is :

Are you kidding? For 6.000 USD I can buy 6 years old toyota corolla with 1400ccm engine! I know that labour is very expensive in U.S. (I spent there some time), but think that someone steals you money!! Even in U.S. you can buy complete rebuilt engine for 3.000 USD! Regards, Peter.
Let me know if by some wild chance you still have the car.
