"Slow and heavy on gas!"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Nothing much! Just the ordinary (brakes, sounds, etc.)

General comments?

This Sports Utility Vehicle eats your wallet up! It has 210 HP. But it moves extremwly slowly!

If the X-Terra is heavy on gas, then why is the running cost rated a 9 out of 10 where a higher number number indicates cheaper?

I agree! Shouldn't it be more of a 6 or 7?

... and why even mention horrible gas mileage if you don't tell the survey community what you are averaging?!!

If your previous car was a Hummer H1, you shouldn't be complaining of Xterra's fuel consumption.

My son has a 2000 model, fuel sending unit broke off at top of tank stranding him it cost me a large tow bill even though this was a factory recall due to safety reasons, the next thing that happened was the exhaust manifold broke or cracked, another factory recall or noted problem while Nissan did agree to replace sending unit there was no help on exhaust I called Nissan and they were not helpful at all their customer service is the worse I have dealt with. I like the car, but I hate owning it because the way Nissan has responded to my problems I realize the vehicle was 6 years old when I bought, but these items were recognized by Nissan as problems from factory and should have been covered not to mention the danger an individual could face if a fuel sending unit breaks while driving in heavy traffic.

I just got a 2000 xterra, I love driving it. It has a real truck feeling and its easy to manouver. This is my first Japanese Truck and I thought that I would get good gas mileage out of it.. I was wrong. My 94 explorer, 00 Blazer, 96 Z28 5.7L, do a lot better mileage. Maybe I need a tuneup, but its not normal to waste 48 liters and get 220 km with a 3.3l engine. My camaro with a 5.7L does 360km with 43 liters. (I drive both cars in the city).. I'm looking into converting my xterra into diesel (QD32) we'll see. ;)
