"The Bravadas are lemons, but don't expect any help from the Mfg"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

I bought my Bravada with 5,000 miles on it. The first couple of weeks I was very pleased with my vehicle. I had minor things that went wrong with it, but figured it was just because it had a few bugs that needed to be worked out. Around 12,000 miles I really started worrying due to the fact that major things started going wrong. It went from bad to worse and hasn't stopped yet. Starting in 1999 I had the front drive shaft replaced, a blower motor and the fill plug replaced. Two months later the rear output seal, the right rear axle and another blower motor replaced. At this point my factory warranty has ran out so the extended warranty that I was smart enough to buy kicked in where the Brake master cylinder, the booster, and cigarette lighter went out and had to be replaced. The cassette player also quit working. Actually the cassette is still stuck in the player. Six months went by with no problems and then the Compressor, Heater Core, thermostat and yet another blower motor went out. Two months ago the transmission seal, the tail shaft and the alternator, and yes another blower motor (4 total so far at $680.00 a piece) went out. At this point my transmission is slipping and I need to get it in before the warranty runs out. I am so disappointed in my Bravada and would love to trade it off, but after paying $28,000.00 for this vehicle it is not in my budget to have a car payment. I have four months left on my extended warranty and at that point I will probably have to make a trade. After contacting Oldsmobile for a total of 9 times and 6 different case numbers they finally put closure to their part of this vehicle. They expressed how sorry they were that I had, had so many problems with my vehicle and since I had been such a loyal customer they wanted to send me a voucher for ($800.00) towards the purchase of my new Oldsmobile.

General comments?

If anyone is considering buying an Oldsmobile product I suggest that you re-think your decision.

I will never buy another Oldsmobile product.

Very overpriced vehicle.

My experience with my 98 Bravada parallels yours, down to the tape stuck in the player. Will think twice about buying another GM vehicle.

As well as you both, I am having similar problems with my 98 Bravada. The transmission is slipping, and I really don't have the budget to get another one. My wife bought the car in 2003, used of course, and worked fine for the longest time. When I got back from being out of the country for over a year, we moved up to Maryland from Louisiana. When we reached Tennessee, that's when the major problems started to occur. As of now, I'm worried about driving the car, even just to work because I don't know if it's going to break down on me in the middle of the road.
