"Utilitarian baby-tank"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

The engine light comes on from time to time, got a letter from the dealer saying they're defective, but haven't gone to get it fixed. Headliner sagging and trim is wearing, but hey whadda what for 6000 brand new off the lot.

General comments?

I love my truck, I paid 6300$ for this truck brand new in '96 and I have had no mechanical problems whatsoever. Over 100k now and still runs like new. Engine catches right off and gas mileage is about 1mpg off from the day I bought it. Same clutch, same brakes haven't replaced a single bulb or headlight. If it fell apart tomorrow I'd still have gotten a deal.

I agree I have one now and it has nearly 100,000 miles on it and the only thing that I have fixed on the truck was one burned out tail lamp, the tires and all the belts.

This truck also has about the best air conditioning of any vehicle I have seen. It is almost painfully cold... nice when it is 108 degrees out. My only real complaints are that the battery cables tend to corrode way to easy, the jack has a crank handle so cheap that the first time I had a flat it broke off at the weld while jacking the truck up and flighty internal electrical system. I have had to replaced a fuse or two and now my dash lights are out and they are not listed in the fuse panel. My only choice is to pull every fuse and carefully inspect it.

I have a 1996 with a litle over 125,000 miles on it. I bought it used in 1998 and the local dealer said it was a good year and that I should get 200,000 miles out of it.

The engine runs great and the body is not rusted out. The engine light goes on a lot for no apparent reason. The headliner is completely loose and held up there only by the

visors.

The drivers window sticks a lot because the fuzz on the rubber by the base of the window is worn off.

Routine maintenance and expected replacement of tires and battery has taken place.

The engine has never given me any problems and runs great!

At age 75, doing only about 5,000 miles a year now that I am retired, this is probably the last vehicle I will ever own.

Great truck!
