"I love my car and now I can't drive it!"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Either it is the head gasket or a cracked block. Water is in the oil and radiator fluid is leaking out the exhaust.

General comments?

I love my car and now I can't get a job cause I do not have a working car and it sucks cause I enjoyed driving and now I have no wheels to get me around. So yeah I am pretty unhappy about a car that I maintained and then things like this go wrong with it!!

I bought a 1992 Taurus 9 months ago from a dealer for $1750.00. The service engine light came on during the test drive and the salesman said that for $250.00 more he would have the mechanic take a look. They did not give me any report on the problem, but the salesman said, "If you get 3 months out of the car you'll be doing good."

Now, another mechanic informs me that I need a head gasket and quoted me the price of $1392.47. It is the only car that I have and I need it desperately to get to work, so I told him to go on and fix it. Was this not a good idea? How much are head gasket replacements for this year and model anyway?
