I only had a couple minor problems so far. First, the exterior light housing above the rear window filled with water. Second, the weather striping or rubber seal around the skylight was slightly elevated in one corner, but there was no leak. In any event, the dealer prompty replaced both the entire skylight and light housing (under warranty).
Presently, only the fan belt squeeks alittle. There have not been any other problems.
This is the best truck or SUV truck hybrid I have owned to date. I like the styling, handling, sound system, visible, easy controls, and front seat comfort.
I have not had any mechanical problems.
The Dealer in Albany, Oregon, has been pleasant, cooperative and professional.
The only downside is the poor fuel economy. I get about 15 mpg with premium fuel.
I would like to see comments on performance. I would most like to know how it performs off road since the review is of a 4X4. If you have input on off-road performance for the Nissan Frontier 4X4 crew cab, please send it to wesnsherri@juno.com Thanks for your help.
I purchased my 2003 SC V6 crew cab long bed 4x4 last year and driving down from San Francisco to Los Angeles, I was surprised on how thirsty this truck was. it took me 3 fill ups to get back, I was averaging 14mpg. I've had the truck for a year now, and I like it except for the extremely poor fuel mileage. Right now, I average around 14.5 mpg highway, and around 13mpg city. and that's not even using the full extent of the supercharger. I try to drive it with a light foot as much as possible. (i used to own a v8 4wd tundra that at least returned 18mpg in the highway.) as for the 4x4, I have driven it in the snow, and its performance is up to the task. the 4x4 shifter sometimes is hard to shift. but once you get going, I doubt if you ever will be stuck. I hope Nissan does something about this truck's appetite for premium fuel.
I leased a 2002 Nissan Frontier S/C crew cab long bed in April of 2002. The truck has about 31,000 miles on it. It recently developed a knock overnight. I took it to my local dealer to have it looked at and they said it was a front crank seal that was bad. They proceeded to tell me that it needed a completely new motor. I am only 25 years old, but have been a automotive hobbyist for some time now and have never had to replace entire motor because of a faulty seal. The real kicker is that I am currently waiting to hear back form Nissan if it will be covered under my warranty. When I leased the truck I asked to get an extended warranty so that the truck was covered for the duration of the lease (4 years, 60,000 miles). The problem I have with this is that they are trying to say that I neglected the vehicle. Sounds to me like they don't want to replace so they are trying to put the blame on me. Has anyone else had this Problem?
