"I think I received whats known as a Friday afternoon car"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

The rear window trim fell off when winding down window.

Under dash trim fell on your feet.

Both doors came loose on their hinges.

Seats wore badly and uncomfortable spot developed in center of the back.

Inside door handle casing pulled off.

The boot would not close without slamming hard.

Remote car stereo control did not work.

General comments?

I decided upon the 306 convertible as I loved its look and flowing lines. It looks great with the roof up and down and space inside (for a convertible) was ample.

The suspension and handling was very good and the car always felt solid on the road.

My main cause for disappointment was the poor trim level and niggly problems with a car that was brand new.

I can't comment on the article as my 306 peugeot convertible problems have been very different - in Australia we would call the car a Lemon rather than a Friday car.

I have had transmission problems since day one and cannot get anyone to take it seriously - bought in 2000 complained in 2000 and last week on the highway I had to restart the car 9 times because of the transmission. Back in 2001 the dealer brought out a specialist to look at the car - he agreed with my son that there was a transmission problem implied this was a known fault (unfortunately we didn't take the man's name and the dealer refused to give us his name and denied what was said to my son. The dealer said that the specialist said all was well - I would like to know if this is a common problems with Peugeots as currently I am told I need a new transmission it has done about 56000 kilometers only - -there have been lots of other problems with this car, but that is the major problem - looking for other people's advice and known problems.

Hi. prepare for worse... My 306 model 1999 station wagon 1360cc petrol engine required a complete engine replacement. The engine coolant corrodes the inferior quality aluminium metal alloy used to form the engine block; this perforated the block and could take a thick pencil right through! there must be a design defect in the circulation of the engine block coolant that eventually corrodes the block; and this after replacing the specified coolant at the dealer and at the specified intervals. What a shocking car to own...
