She blew the timing belt at about 79,000 miles.
This car is the nicest cruising car that I have owned. Thanks to the 200 HP 3.4 DOHC motor, she gets right up whenver the gas is punched. No problem at all getting onto turnpikes or freeways whatsoever.
My previous car was a Cavalier Z-24 Convertible and this ragtop is much, much nicer. Plenty of leg room for adults and a decent sized trunk. Top goes up and down faithfully with no problems.
Only down side was when she blew the timing belt, cost about $650 US to get it fixed. Other than that, no problems, I really like this car, too bad Oldsmobile is going out of existence.
I appreciate the positive review. I only wish my '93 Convertible operated as well. I have babied the car (only 58,000 miles on it in 10 years), and I have already had the transmission rebuilt and had to replace the rear disk break calipers. The heating/AC console cut out at 50,000 and recently the sound system cut out on me, too! The alternator has been replaced once, and the starter is on its deathbed. One power window works sporadically, but the good news is... the other three work fine! I love the styling, the rear seat space, and the power of the car, but it will cost me a fortune to keep on the road!
GM recommends the timing belt be replaced at 70,000 miles. My '94 Convertible blew at 69,000.
