1983 Ford Falcon XE from Australia and New Zealand - Comments

"Have YOU driven a Ford lately?"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Thermostat needed to be replaced.

Kilometers counter has stop.

Steering Box broke.

Some Rust.

General comments?

Whoever said Fords were not good cars did not know what they were talking about.

I was given this car from my Dad.

The car came lowered, 2 1/2 inch exhaust the whole length, Extractors in pretty mink condition.

The car is one of the most reliable car I have driven. I replaced the engine due to the age of the car it was only a matter of time before something went wrong.

The whole engine was replaced. The car was even smoother then before.

The XE Ford is a very rare car to find in mink condition.

If you find one it is a great investment.

The ultimate car for cruising, And a very reliable car for a family.

The XE is a very underrated car and even now is a better buy then new model cars.

I own one of these *#$# things. For the last three years I have been doing it up (body, motor, interior, etc.) and the money tree died a death so the project is currently progressing very slowly. As for being (you seem to think) an excellent car they are OK, but have you actually driven any of the later stuff?? They are sometimes better in comfort, power and economy. However, an old dog falcon is relatively cheap to fix (they have to be with my financial controller watching my every move!) and the other problem is as they get older they need fixing more often. Oh well.

I agree with the original poster. The second poster must have a lemon. My XE Falcon 4.1 litre is a great reliable car, cheap to fix when something, which is rare, goes wrong. Preventative maintenance is the key, like with any car. I'm also happy with the economy too, which is as good or better then my friends new cars.

I have 2 82 Xe's, 1 an s pack 36ooo k's, 1 panel van 101000'ks I love them both, comfort cruz's with plenty of power. They have No rust, don't leak water and have been good to me.I'v owned my panel van for about 4 or 5 years now, I wouldn't of got a 2nd if they were junkboxes. My s pack is a cracker 5 speed, air, good paint and an excellent interior. I cannot waite to drive it, I love my ozzy tanks, and will keep them as long as I can.
