"Get it chipped, get it tuned, youll never want to let it go!"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

First thing to go wrong is the immobiliser. the wires broke off right on the edge of the unit, making it impossible to solder back on. I approached Peugeot Main Dealers and they said, SORRY! no solution. We don't do a replacement plug!.. They were so wrong, apparently, they don't show it on the systems for parts, but service know about it, and they are £10.54 + vat. I've had the car for 3 years and that's all its broke down on! MEGA CAR!

General comments?

I bought it totally standard pushing 150bhp from the 2.0 turbo engine. I had a stainless steel performance exhaust hand made (Powerflow) for it, had it chipped to 220bhp and had a dash 31 actuator fitted (as the original spring wasnt strong enough to take the upprated boost I had running through it (13lbs). I then had a bleed valve added on and its cossie killer material. its so fast and so smooth, you touch the pedal and it just purrs to 100mph in a few seconds. you don't realise when you put the pedal down, you see the people right who were right behind you a quarter of a mile back in just a few seconds. very fast and very very nice to drive!

Cossie killer???. Have you ever driven a cossie, if so then you would know that 220 bhp is hardly cossie killer material, I've got one and its pushing 270bhp so keep doing the mods to your pug and maybe one day you may reach cossie status.

Right then puggy boy... (lol),I'm in scotland already and it seems you have done loads to your 406,if I was to mod my cos as much as you have done to your taxi I would need a parachute to get out of the sky as I fear I would take off, so stop dreamin that puggys are in the same league as the legendry cossie and tell ecosse to stop fillin your head with nonsence boy,

Your both wasting your time, you see my Machine is a real killer with a 0-100 in 3.5 seconds it's fast and with three tyres it's great on the handling. it must be touching 3742 bhp so if your in birmingham stop by the airport and see me, We'll be sure to have a ball of a race.

I had a 406 executive with a modified 2.0 turbo unit pushing 200bhp. I wouldn't call it a Cossie killer, but it wasn't that far off in a straight line, as even Imprezas (genuine Cosworth munchers) had to go flat out to pass me on motorways. The 406 2.0 turbo is an excellent stealth weapon when suitably tuned (and properly driven). Its only real disadvantage is its weight.

Unless you want to swap the engine for a V6, your best bet is to increase the displacement of the engine to enable greater torque. The 406 excels at torque, way more than some sports cars at 173lb/ft.

This *may* avoid the need to buy expensive forged pistons as you are using stronger pistons from a more powerful engine. You can then increase the boost, but would need a remap or a chip to increase boost pressure much past 12psi or you run the risk of damaging overboost. Remap, boost increase, performance exhaust and air filter = 200bhp (hopefully).

A 406 turbo with 150bhp does 0-60 in 9 seconds. The mark 4 Golf GTi does it in 10 seconds. Think on that, gentlemen.

I don't know much about 405 pug turbos, but 9 seconds to 60? That's nova GTE/saxo VTR times, seems very slow for a 2.0 turbo.

A stock Alfa 2.5 V6 can do that in 7.3 seconds.. and it still weighs nearly a ton and a half!!

Cossie killer ain't the way to call it!! A standard Cossie will give a Scooby some trouble, let alone a standard pug!!

And if you spend that much money on a Cossie, you'll be looking at a rocket not a car, so please rephrase that bit!!

And mr pilot, I like your humour. You really kicked every car's ass with that comment hehe :D keep it up!!

Hi I have a question. I have a pug 306 gti-6 and have been offered a 406 sri turbo engine for 500 quid and very interested in dropping it in my 306. Is this a big big job or can it be done with some ease? I'm guessin once it is in that I will have a little rocket of a car?

Yeah, I've got a 406 Executive turbo, with 18in wheels and a dump valve etc. It's a very nice car; cream leather, electric seats, air con and the women love it! Well I've had no complaints yet anyway! And it looks a lot more expensive than it actually is You won't find many cossies with all that! They're just a damn sight quicker! Ha ha.

Was thinking about tuning the engine, or maybe fitting a t16, to make it a proper beast. Anyone with info about this sort of thing, some help would be much appreciated, cheers.

If you find a t16 engine buy it, and keep hold of it, infact polish it and put it on your mantel peice because the are quite special and I think there was only 208 made. I'm buying a 2.0 8v lump next satday, dopping it in a 205, shud have some fun with evos/scoobys, only thing is, its england and it rains all time n I will only have fwd lol. anyhow...

Mike.
