Just hired the new ford fiesta over the xmas period-covered 850 miles. found this car to be quite nippy and economical -only good points. ride was poor -build quality and interior poor. full of cheap /thin plastic and noisey. central locking playing up-spring pings every time you lock and unlock -just waiting for it to snap completely?had a tiny stone chip on windscreen which developed into crack!! never seen such thin glass -no wonder it broke. both headlight seals were faulty and full of damp and rain water. remember this in a car under 2000 miles.
If this is fords new european model I can understand why they are loosing sales and loads of money now. plastic interior reminded me of a cheap 1970s jap car that I learnt to drive in 15 years ago!cd system best thing about it -turn it up high to kill the road noise, uncomfortable seat and interior feel. drove a seat ibiza last year -which was 5 years old -i cannot think where it is beaten by this fiesta in any area. not a car to follow the superb focus.
Surely everybody knows that rental cars are always in, let's just say, below average condition?
I would just like to point out that the noise heard just after the central locking locks and unlocks the doors is a system check and does not indicate any defect or wear.
Great to see an honest opinion.
However just bare in mind that the 2003 model fiesta is praised by all the motoring press for a fantastic ride.
I do agree about the functional interior, it may look cheap however it does wear well and doesn't have any squeeks.
