So far I have had only minor problems with my car, I had a leaking heater hose, this only cost two dollars to replace and a snapped power steering belt which came as a great surprise at 60km/h mid corner.
My vl turbo is different to most VL turbos as I am running the rb20det motor from an R32 skyline gts-t. This is a 2 litre twin cam Japanese import motor.
The motor bolts straight up to the standard 3 litre engine mounts and will also bolt straight up to the standard VL gearbox.
Standard this motor produces 165 kw, as compared to the 3 litre turbo's 150kw.
Hey, its me again.
The mods I have done to my car include a 3 inch mandrel bend exhaust from the turbo back, a front mounted intercooler and I have wound the boost up to 14 psi. I am running a LSD (limited slip diff) with a gear ratio of 4.11:1.
On the handling front I have lowered the car a further 2 inches lower than the factory turbo suspension and fitted nolathane bushes all round.
The brakes are still standard vl turbo issue, however, I am running on bendix ultimate pads.
In this state of tune the car has more than enough power to get up and embarrass some very expensive HSV machinery.
Even more fun than roasting these guys is the look on their bemused faces when they pull up next to you at the next set of lights and ask what the hell you are running under the bonnet!
My car is also fitted with a full walkinshaw kit and calais pop up headlights so I believe for the money they are by far the best value for money performance car you can buy today.

Hey guys, I am currently doin a conversion to my vl wagon it is a stock 3 litre but I am putting a rb20t into it a the present time, rb20t is stock, wat are some cheap mods I can do, and how bout passing it tho regency?
Hey I've done the conversion, I got JPC in meb to do the wiring and fitting of the Huge Bar and Plate intercooler, at the moment I'm running 14psi with the standard turbo, but I have a T3G turbo ready to bolt on, the engine is bolted into my VL calais series 2, is 5spd manual and with around 160kw so far the standard single wheeler diff will go bang soon! anyway I'm pleased with the conversion as there aint many people who have done the RB20DET conversion around that I know of, Owen..
I have done two RB conversions, one RB25de into my R31 Skyline 5 years ago, and one RB20det in my VL calais 2 years ago. The skyline ran as smooth as. Now the skyline ran the quater mile "14.7 sec @96Mph in 3rd gear with 3.7 gears in the diff" could have done better, but had bad traction. I done 20 passes over a 50min time frame and the car never missed a beat. On the other hand the Calais only managed 15.0 sec @ 95Mph with 3.45 gears and more trouble than it was worth. The calais was puttin 195kw @ the rear " NOT STOCK ", while the Skyline was only putting 103kw @ the rear. Both were using the factory computers that come with the engines. I have seen some good RB20det's around, BUT I'm @ THE STAGE BUILDING A RB30DE WITH NOS> is working out cheaper that turbo and more street reliable as the NOS will be used for the drags only.
Hey I just put a rb20det into my vl and I'm haveing problems with the computer wiring. i don't no how and where to wirer the 3 plugs. if there is anyone to help me with my problem pls contact me on 0413735497. thank you.
