2001 Peugeot 406 Rapier from UK and Ireland - Comments

I have a rattle in the near side door pillar.

The drivers seat plastic trim rubs constantly on the plastic trim in the foot well.

My main complaint is that this car is

about as SECURE AS A WET PAPER BAG over the six months of owning this car it has been broken into twice by the same method i.e. knocking out the drivers door lock from the plastic door handle where it was mounted.

THIS HAS ALSO HAPPENED TO TWO OF MY FRIENDS WHO ALSO HAVE THE SAME 406 HDI ESTATES.

This car is very nice to drive

BUT I just can't not leave it anywhere!

Extremely pleased with the drive and prestige of the 406. I have never driven a car that is such a "head turner" before.

I am fortunate enough to have the "leatherette" interior in mine - which really makes my mates jealous!!!

Have a problem with the ABS and airbag warning light on mine, but a couple of taps of the sleek dashboard usually sees me right.

Great car, exciting drive... and the best taxi I have ever owned...............Sweet

The car design is first class, for me one one of the most beautifulcars, in the world, but talking, about the mechanics, the power is low, at low speeds, the brakes, are a mess, i had change,4 times the pads, the discs brakes, are made whit a to poor materials, this commentary iam sure is not new to peugeot, the only thing I can't understand, all the money they paid to pininfarina, and they put garbage in pads, and discs brakes. I have owned my rapier for 2 and 1/2 years and so far 6 sets of disks and pads new clutch and rear bearings, all under warranty!!brake fault was diagnosed (by me!!) to be hub out of alignment, common fault on this year car.

Apart from this a joy to drive and economical (45mpg)

Concerning possibility of theft. I always use a steering lock on all of my cars. It's a minor inconvenience for me, but severe extra hassle and deterrent for any thief.
