Rear windows jamed, carpet came away from floor, loose head light, engine has been replaced twice in 12000 miles and its on the way out again.
What a pile of junk isuzu are how can a car blow up two engines in 12000 miles.
Simply a pile of trash don't ever buy one
interior is laughable.
I feel sorry for you. (bad luck?) :-)
I have 3 Troopers, but none is dead yet!
They are from: 1985 2.3 TD (240' KM), 1989 2.8TD (180' KM) and 1991 2.8TDi (190' KM).
Some advice to TD drivers:
Due to the high torque at low rpm's it is easy to overload the engine. The oil pressure at low rpm's is low, hence poorer lubrication and cooling of engine components, cooled/lubricated by the engine oil. So keep the engine rpm up!!
After "hard driving" a turbo engine, let it idle for a couple of minutes before shutting it down.
Never "rev" up and stop the engine, the turbo will run for a long time WITH OUT lubrication, when the engine is shutdown.
Check oil and water level, the turbo is water cooled as well.
Change oil according to service plan, use the specified oil quality.
I have followed these "rules" and my cars are running well.
Happy Trooping from Norway.
I OWN AN ISUZU TROOPER 3.0D TURBO LS SEVEN SEATER (JUNE 2003) AFTER A YEAR 19,000 MILES IT STOPPED SUDDENLY WITH ME UNEXPECTEDLY. AFTER A MONTH IN SICK BAY I HAVE IT BACK. FROM WHAT I CAN GATHER, THE DIESEL FUEL DROPPED DOWN INTO THE ENGINE OIL AND WRECKED THE PISTONS. BEFORE THE DEALER CAME TO THIS CONCLUSION THEY REPLACED THE TURBO UNIT, INJECTOR PUMP, INJECTORS AND FINALLY AFTER THE VEHICLE WAS REMOVED TO ANOTHER MECHANIC. WHO DETECTED THE PROBLEM, THE BOTTOM BLOCK WITH NEW PISTONS WAS FITTED TO THE ENGINE. SEEMS FINE NOW. THEY WANTED TO CHARGE ME £5000 (10 MONTHS OLD VEHICLE) DESPITE A THREE YEAR Warranty.
QUESTION WILL IT LAST???
WILL IT DO THE SAME AGAIN???
ARE THERE ANY OTHER FAULTS PREVALENT TO THIS MODEL??
I HAVE SINCE HEARD OF OTHER TROOPERS HAVING THIS SAME PROBLEM / DESIGN FAULT.
ANYONE OUT THERE GOT ANY INFORMATION... I'D LIKE TO KNOW MORE!! THANKS

Trooper citation reg may 2003 clutch went at 5000 miles engine packed up at 14000 miles had 6 troopers before all well kept and full service history we have been waiting for 5 weeks for a new engine and told today another 3 weeks for delivery to this country I think this model has a manufacturers fault, but they are not holding up their hands I have tried on numerous occasions to contact Isuzu because I feel that a new engine should warranty a new 3 year warranty on the engine from a trooper lover that will be sorry to see it go in case this engine breaks down again.
