I have owned this car for 13 years. At 90,000 replaced Alternator. Also replaced the clutch about this time. Has always used a quart of oil every 900 miles, but the engine has lasted 175,000. At 160,000 replaced both front half-shafts and a front wheel bearing.
This car has been extremley reliable. When I first got in it to test drive it, it only had 9 miles on it. I have since racked up 175,000 mostly trouble free miles. The car is quick and responsive, altough not as quick as it once was. I only hope that the my next car lasts as long as my Geo has.
Hi,
Ive just recently bought a 1990 Geo Storm GSI. Duel cam. I'm so in love with this car, but having a problem that maybe someone out there can help me with. We have been doing some preventive maintenance on the car since bringing it home. In route to bringing it home it started over heating, we brought it into the garage and replaced the thermostat after the past owner told us that he had replaced it. I know that sometime this happens when buying parts, get a hold of a faulty one.
Anyway we replaced that along with the water pump. We put a brand new Water pump in it hoping that this would fix the problem being that the Thermostat didn't. Well it is still over heating. We are not sure why. We've flushed the radiator along with doing all the preventive maintenance on the car, such as, changing oil, plugs, distributor cab, rotor and we even put in a new heater core.
As well as changing the timing belt.
This is the 2nd' Geo that we've owned. The first one was a 1992 beautiful red automatic. This one that I have now is a 5 speed and I'm wanting to drive it so bad. But first got to get it up and running. So if anyone could have a suggestion in what it might be or anything. Would you please contact me at campfarm@mbo.net. Thank you for your time. Dawn Campbell.
