Two weeks after purchase driver side power window stopped working.
Engine overheats while idling.
Exhaust leaking.
At 20000 miles brakes had to be replaced pads and front rotors. Rotors have changed shape from round to elliptic.
Water collecting in driver side rear fender, trunk lid and spoiler.
Leaking windows rear passenger side.
Shorted brake lights, constantly burning bulbs.
While idlling engine makes clicking noises.
Passenger headlight fell off with no reason, just dropped on the pavement.
Coolant temperature sensor went bad, doesn't turn on radiator fans (it is dual for better cooling-I guess).
At 25000 miles everything started again.
In addition to above mentioned defects,
suspension feels like has over half a million miles. The only two things that did not go bad on this car are muffler and license plate.
Very bad investment not to mention pain in the neck with visits to the dealership for repairs. Best of all are the folks at the shop, always do whatever it takes to make me remotle happy.
I agree with you. I owned the same car and Traded it in for a 2004 Dodge Intrepid ES. A much better car for the money. I had nothing, but problems with this car from day one. And it's a bunch of stupid problems that should NEVER go wrong with a car. I used to only own GM cars, but after this experience with a 1999 Olds Alero and then with the 2001 Grand Prix, never again will I own a car that rolls off of a General Motors assemble line.
I feel for both of you! I owned the same car and it was a complete nightmare! I actually purchased a 2004 Ford Taurus in place of this car and it has been wonderful. Not necessarily the most exciting car, but is reliable and the Ford Dealer has been wonderful. The Pontiac dealer basically told me it was my fault for purchasing their own piece of junk! Never again will I buy one of thier vehicles.
I had this same car, and as of today, I no longer own it! Talk about the happiest day of my life! I swear that it cost me more to fix everything on this car, than what it originally cost me. Just two days ago, The engine seized up and that was it. This morning I traded it in for a 2008 Dodge Avenger and I love it. The Grand Prix is nothing but a money pit and even though I only got 700 bucks for it, I have never been so happy to be rid of a car before!
