Not many things went wrong with the car.
The only thing wrong was that the radiator was bad when I bought it. Other than that, there have been no problems what so ever.
Well, maybe one thing... there is a rattle when I start it up, coming from the timing chain. People say that it's not really that bad, and doesn't have to be replaced for a good long while, so I'm glad cause I can focus on other things.
The car is a great handler. Son of a gun hugs the curves like a dream.
The inside doesn't have much room, which makes you feel kinda cramped in the back seat. The car can fit people in the back, I've had 5 grown people at once in the car, it just doesn't really feel that good.
The performance is OK, needs more power from the get-go. Add at least a couple things so you can enjoy it more. I added an Injen intake and 2.5" mandrel bent exhaust and immediately felt a big difference that had me feeling really good about this car.
What else can you ask for?
Decent stock power
A lot of aftermarket support
great handling
super super reliability
CHEAP!
I have a 1990 240sx this winter on a cold day about -15 I blew the moter. I heard the knocking for a while, but didn't think nothing about it. I love tht the car, the handling is the best I ever had, and it's an old car. my brother had a 1993 sentra se-r. all the upgrades he could have other than the turbo. he sold it and bought the newe se-r. he wants to build a driffter out of my old car. the car is in good shape. he told all the engines I can put in there. should I do it? is it worth the money? I realy like the car. its sitting at my parents house right now. there bicthing to get the car out of there.
I am a recent owner of the 240sx. this is my first car and I am concerned with the knocks that it has. reading from you guys it doesn't seem like a bad problem. can you guys shed some light on this issue? i would greatly appreciate it ...
The described knocking is most likely result of the timing chain tensioner that was I believe later recalled. either way, if your ka24e has over 100,000miles on it (which is likely), preparing for a timing chain and/or chain tensioner replacement would be wise. my car's 135,000 miles engine sounds like a diesel right now, and needs that work done terribly. don't wait like I have and risk blowing your engine. also check fuel injectors/o-rings as they'll wear out. replacing the fuel filter is an easy bang for the buck drivabilty improvement. mobile 1 never hurts either.
