This car it's a real, crap!
Expensive to keep, underpowered, gas guzzler, very poor built and unreliable.
As well the car, the services given by FIAT dealers also has a very poor quality, collect a very expensive price for badly services, I had to took the car one, two, three, four... ten times to fix something!
A very poor support, given by the dealers, not being rare the times where they lacked parts.
I would agree with you on this occosion.
On this occosion I would say that you got a particularly bad one. I think you have placed highish expectations on a car that is now 10+ years old and that these are just a good, or no worse than other budget euros eg the escort or astra.
