"Fabulous car which can be bought cheaply"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

Brake pipes needed changing.

Seats need feeding with leather polish.

Must get full service history.

General comments?

Loved to go for a drive in it.

Plenty of power to get away fast.

Didn't find the fuel a problem.

Fuel consumption was 11 to 18 MPG.

If you want one you have to get one.

There is a strange tappet noise around the engine that can't be located because the aluminum block sound travels everywhere. Took out rocker covers to identify the tappet noise, pushed down on one valve and the noise reduced. After the lifter builds pressure the noise returns. Also, pushed down valve to see if the source was from a seat in the head, but when pushed down other valves around the head and still sounded the same. I am in desperate need of some assistance with this.

I have seen the same problem on Rolls-Royce Spurs, for instance 1959 - 1984 which has the same tappet noise. At this time we are working on a 1959 Cloud V8 with the above problem. This problem is that we can't solve the problem. Any assistance in this perplexing matter would be appreciated.
