Emissions control unit had to be replaced in order to pass local air care standards - Cdn$600.
Car has overheated for a long time - Chevy dealer checked and said that all components were functioning properly, but fan cuts out when engine overheats (always)
Car stalled and would not restart. Cost C$480 to get starting properly.
After 30-40 minutes, (heating gauge hovers at just below the red zone, at 3/4 hot). Car shudders like it's going over a washboard road or railroad tracks, Any slowing to a stop will stall it; it will start okay, but stalls immediately when slipping into any gear. Requires 5 minutes of rest to cool off and allow it to go forward or reverse.
It does seem to be falling apart.
Up until recently, it was a trouble-free car, running smoothly, having plenty of get-up and go and requiring minimal repairs. However, since last fall, it's caused real anxiety - starting with a leak in the centre of the block that was hard to find and stop.
I have a 1992 Chevy Corsica and it does the same thing to me. I check my fluids and I check the engine colant and it was very low. I filled up the engine colant compartment and it does not act up as much. So you might want to check the collants and fluids. Make sure there is no air in the fluid lines.
Tranny prob: disconnect the TCC. it will kill fuel econ.
