The water pump went out at 60,000 miles.
The air conditioner went out at 90,000 miles.
The windshield wiper motor went out at 50,000 miles.
There is a short in the truck that keeps on draining batteries. I've taken it to three mechanics that can't find the cause. I am really tired of replacing batteries more than anything.
The truck is as tough as nails.
It will haul anything you can fit in it.
It will pull anything that I put behind it.
For anyone who reads this. If ANY car has an electrical problem, don't buy it or get rid of it. Electrical problems almost always expand exponentially. You almost never find the problem, spend thousands in investigative work, and lose your hair in frustration. Had a friend who looked at an Audi with the O2, and temperature lights on. He didn't think that was extremely important to its running so he bought it. Well, he has put about $4000 into it and surprising enough it's dead in his driveway. Shorts or lights always on in dash=problems, problems, problems. So save yourself the headache.
Hog wash. It takes patience to find some shorts, and someone who can do it, not just someone who says they can and will take your money for not fixing it. If they can't do it, they shouldn't be charging for it, and you shouldn't be paying for it. Period.
I found the same electrical problem in my 1995 LS pickup, so after an exhaustive hunt of the problem I tightened the screws (2) of the starter motor (under the truck) and it solved the problem; I am not an expert, but it worked for me!!!
I had a similar problem with a 1995 Sonoma. Many batteries and just could not figure it out initially. It turned out to be the ignition switch. It would not turn completely off and would stay in the accessory mode. However, this just happened every once in awhile. Even though the key is out of the ignition, you must jiggle the ignition switch to get turn if off. Problem solved. This happened in the the first 30k miles of use. Change the ignition switch or jiggle the switch. LOL.
