I've owned Fiesta's all my driving life and after rolling 1 on a round about in my boy racer days and getting out without and walking away I love the fiesta.
After picking my current mk3 Fiesta up from the garage I gave it an oil and filter change and adjusting the tappets and now my 12 year old fiesta sounds than my mums 4 year old KA.
The only down side to this Fiesta is the 4 speed gearbox which I'm looking into changing for a 5 speed in the next couple of month as I tend to spend a lot of time on motorways.
If looked after you can pick a good mk3 up with very little rust for around £300, best look for the ones that have been owned by the older generation as they tend to be the ones that have been well looked after.
Come on mate, I'm 18, my mk 3 is my first car, and it has to be the cleanest and best maintained fiesta in the whole of essex. Everyone comments on how nice it still looks, it's a 1990 G plate, with nearly 70'000 on the clock. It used a bit of oil now because the tappets are in need of great adjustment, I plan to do this later on today. Anyway just like to point out that young people can look after cars in a respectable manner too. It hasn't been modified, and still has the orignal ford Stereo (tape/radio), its the 1.1LX with electric windows and central locking too. Its one of those cars you least expect to have them features, but annoys friends that buy new KAs and Puntos etc, that still have manual windows and manual locking. Never mind, I'm doing her up now, (in the sense of cleaning) I'm hoping to sell her this weekend. With the last shape escort or a mk 1 or 2 mondeo.
Thanks!
