"One big lemon!!!"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

00' Intrepid 2.7L w/58k engine failure.

It jumped time or wasn't getting any oil (the oil light never came on).We are still looking at the motor to determine. I have had no luck finding a new motor. The local dealership told me that they didn't make these motors anymore, that I could get the block, but have to use my old parts ($3600) or by a used motor ($5500) if we could find one. I have contacted Chrysler, and had the pleasure of dealing with one of there customer service representatives who gave me no useful information about the motor.

After reading reviews from other consumers of Chrysler products, I found that engine failure is common in this type of motor at low mileage. I was curious as to what my options might be.

I posted my complaint on this wonderful website, and got a response the next day with very helpful information. Thanks to this website I have registered my name for a class action law suit.

General comments?

After my experience, and reviews of the Intrepid 2.7L I WOULD NOT recommend this vehicle to anyone. She's a lemon!!!

We are in the same boat as you. Is it too late to join the lawsuit?

I am so disgusted with Chrysler and the dealership.

They need to take ownership of the junk they are putting on the roads.

Alain.

To anyone concerned. We are going through the exact same thing. We only have 49,000 miles on our car and now the engine, of course 4.7L, is probably shot. What can we do?

Can we join the suit too? Please write back and let us know.

Robin.

I just purchased a 2001 Dodge Intrepid in late November or Early December 2002. I took it for an oil change and the mechanic changing the oil showed me the inside of the cap and it was solid gunk. I had them flush the engine and put new oil in. Two days later I also have a blown motor. I have never purchased a Dodge before and I never will again. I also contacted Daimler Chrysler and no help from them either. I never got any warning lights or anything either.

We too have had a bad experience with the 2000 intrepid. It has about 44k miles on it, and the knocking noise started about a week ago. I took it to the dealer and he said it would be $1500 minimum just to diagnose it, since they had to disassemble the engine. Since I can't afford that right now I brought it home to park it until I can do something with it. Today I tried to move it to the other side of the driveway and the engine blew. We have had regular oil changes, but of course no receipts. If there is a class action lawsuit count me in. For this to happen to a properly cared for vehicle in this day and age is unacceptable. Stay far far away from the dodge intrepid!

Regarding the 2000 Dodge/Chrysler Intrepid. I am having the exact same problem as you. I know it is a problem and I know that several people in my region have had this problem. I would like to join this class action lawsuit if possible. Please email me at enak2147@aol.com if possible with information on this lawsuit. Thank you.

Add my husband and I to your list of lawsuit participants!! My 2000 Dodge Intrepid blew it's motor a couple of months ago. We changed the oil as often as necessary, but the motor still blew. Now our warranty company is refusing to replace the motor

Unfortunately I just found out about the 2.7L Dodge Intrepid issues. I was absolutely in love with my Intrepid and had always wanted one. But now after having it only a short time the engine is ruined and my mechanic tells me it's due to manufacturer defects that Daimler Chrysler won't admit to. I am hoping to get information on any Class Action law suit I can join to try to get some reparations for what I am having to deal with now. I have found out that the newer model Intrepid have been re-engineered without these internal problems so obviously the makers KNOW THERE IS A PROBLEM. Now can someone help all of us Intrepid owners make them ADMIT IT??? Anyone with any information on a law suit please contact me at Stacy_Junior_110102@hotmail.com. Thank you and God Bless!! :o)

I'm also looking for information on the class action lawsuit. I bought my 2000 intrepid in December of 2002 and it has been in the shop since June 16th, 2003 it all started with the power steering, then the timing chain jumped which caused 12 of the 24 values to become bent and need replaced and now the computer chip has been replaced and the car will still not start and nobody has a clue what is wrong with it. I'm up to $2300 in repairs and no car. Any helpful information would be greatly appreciated.

I have a 99 intrepid with a oil pressure problem also like every one. I have flushed my engine, but still when it heats up the pressure drops. I have tried heavy oil like 20w-50 but still the light comes on. i will flush one more time with mo-par oil flush and then I will use syn. oil which should be used in a engine with oil build up.

P.s. the oil pump has been revised two times by Chrysler to increase the upper p.s.i. but the lower p.s.i. of 5 p.s.i. has never been changed. why?

I will guess they do not understand this is the whole problem. think about it, or do not want to fix it, admitting an error for a lawsuit.!!! please share this in the lawsuit. The timing chain tensioner needs 5 min. to work properly.

Hi All. Add me to the list of people having dead 2.7L Intrepids. I bought my 2000 Intrepid used, and the engine blew 1 month later. I bought another 2.7L engine and had it installed for $5200 CDN. This engine came with a one year warranty. Guess what. It just blew up too! I've taken great care of this engine, changed the oil every 4000KM. Luckily the second engine is under warranty, but I know I'll have a huge problem getting anything for this dog on trade in.

Please email me with info on any action that can be taken.

I own a 2000 Dodge Intrepid, 2.7 L engine with 85,000 miles on it. I have kept up with oil changes and routine maintenance. About the middle of September my car started making a clicking noise. Shortly after the engine locked up or something. I had a mechanic look at it and he said that all of the bearings had fallen out of my engine and the rods were messed up. He said it looked like the engine was not getting any oil. The oil pan was full and I had just had the oil changed 2 weeks prior. The extended warranty had run out and now I am stuck with a car that needs thousands of dollars to fix it. If any one has any ideas about legal action please let me know. E-mail me @ mmet71@yahoo.com.

I feel like I am reading my own story with all of the reviews. We had our 99 Dodge for not even 2 years. From the beginning, I brought it in to the dealer and told them of a knocking sound. They could not duplicate it so they told me I was hearing things. The engine went while my husband was away on a business trip in it. We could not afford to fix it at minimum $3500, just for the motor (no labor). I would like to be in the suit as well. Please forward any information. howelltsg@sc.rr.com.

My friend without Internet access had her 2000 Dodge Intrepid engine fail with similar problems as mentioned previously in this thread. Please contact me for any class action lawsuit information at eslate999@yahoo.com Thanks Eric Slater.
