General Motors Corporation would not warranty/assist in payment for their defective component.
You purchased a used car with no extended warranty. GM did not make any money on that transaction, and technically, you are not their customer. Why should they assist you?

Yeah...What that guy said!!
The last two contributors sound like disgruntled GM executives. The owner of this vehicle IS INDEED a customer of GMC. Even though the money that GMC made on this vehicle was paid by a previous owner, the VALUE of the warranty that this owner purchased was used as the bargaining chip for the initial sale by GMC.
In other words, part of the money the vehicle initially made was in consideration for 36,000 miles of TRANSFERABLE warranty. So, indeed, this owner WAS a customer of GMC in the sense that he held the property that GMC had already agreed to stand behind for an agreed upon amount of money.
GMC INDEED has an obligation to whomever has possession of a warranty that they sold as part of the value of any vehicle.
