Anti-roll links worn out at 35000
Rear electric window (Driver Side) broke at 33000.
Sony radio cassette player intermittently cuts out since 27000
Noisy Steering column (I hadn't noticed, but advised by MB Dealer) at 35000.
I've found this car completely reliable during the 3 year warranty period. But after that, and despite low per annum mileage (9K), things are starting to go wrong.
My diesel A170 Classic has covered 28,000 miles during which it has required very frequent workshop attention for:
- front anti-roll bar links: now on its 5th set
- steering column: now on its 3rd and needs a 4th
- driver's seat: now on its 3rd and needs a 4th
- alarm: needed several visits to the dealer when new
- front brakes: new calipers or disks replaced
- tailgate and rear seat: rattles and squeaks
- dashboard: rattles and squeaks
- engine air filter: plastic moulding keeps coming loose
- the paintwork scratches very easily
- plastic wheel trim cover fell off the day I drove it out of the dealer's car park
- rear suspension swing arms: need treated for rust
- and the list goes on and on.
All in all, the design is the work of genius, but I have never had a car that was so shoddily made.
