Engine coil replaced twice.
Glove box latch replaced.
Gas gauge replaced.
Rotors replaced.
Headlamp replaced twice.
I've owned this car for just over a year and it has had far too many problems.
It drives great. That is the only positive remark I have for it.
The reliability at 10K miles is unacceptable for even a Dodge Neon. I will never buy a VW again. I am going back to Japanese cars. I will give up something in build quality to get back a reliable vehicle.
I totally agree.
I could not agree more. I leased my 2001 Passat in September 2002, and I have put more money into it in repairs (rotors, coils, plugs, wires, replacement headlamps, etc.) than I have paid in monthly lease fees. I wish I could get out of my lease early so that I can go back to driving a Nissan. I never did anything, but replace windshield wipers and get the oil changed on them, and they lasted me forever. I will never consider a Volkswagen again.
