Air filter had never been changed by the previous owner, and was over 3years old! This severely hampered performance, but was inexpensive and easy to change.
Plastic feeder hose for the rear washer jet split, causing my rear passengers to get soaked every time I washed the rear screen, this was cheap to replace, but wasn't easy and took a lot of time.
The car is quite nippy right through the gearbox, but the top end speed is poor.
Nice looking, GT-Spoiler and body colored bumpers add style.
Seats are a bit soft, and are OK on short journeys. But on longer distances they become rather uncomfortable.
The car was involved in several minor accidents. I found the parts to be reasonably cheap and extremely easy to fit.
I would disagree with the seat "problem" I think the seats are brilliant really comfortable.
I think the top end speed is good I don't no how you can complain about doing 110mph in a 1.1 when most do about 90mph.
I am a 17 year old girl and the Citroen Ax is my first car. There were a few little things that needed amending such as a few bumps and bruises, but nothing major. The car is fantastic and just adequate for my needs. The fuel consumption is great and hardly ever needs filling up. This type of car is great and is ideal for my first car. Definitely a good buy!!!

Its the most comfortable seats, what is the guy on about?
I have a black AX forte and to be honest for what it is there isn't anything I dislike about it.
I have just bought an AX (1994) and was truly surprised at the comfort of the seats - excellent. In my opinion, they are unusually comfortable for today's cars. I also find it quiet, very nippy if required, and economical.
OK, Sorry guys & gals. I was wrong. My seats were obviously just abused by the previous owner.
I must admit, my friends seats in his 1989 G-reg AX are more comfortable than mine ever were.

Agree with your review (except the seat thing!), and my AX has the same thing with the rear window.
I have never bothered to get it fixed though, as you said it looks quite a pain to do.
There was no 994 cc AX I'm afraid. It was a 958cc TU9 engine.
The same as used in the 205, 106 and Saxo. It performs best however in the lightweight AX.
