2003 Dodge Ram Pickup 3500 SLT Quad Cab 4x4 from North America - Comments

"Wow, what a truck"

What things have gone wrong with the car?

General comments?

Truck has allot of power.

New quad cab is very roomy. Comfortably seats adults in back seat.

New fully boxed hydro-formed frame feels very strong and stiff.

4x4 shifts in and out of four wheel drive with ease.

Great fuel mileage. Getting 16 miles per gallon without a load.

When truck is at an idle, there is a strong odor of diesel in the cab.

Long wheel-base provides a comfortable ride.

New Cummings diesel is very quiet.

Need running boards to get into truck comfortably.

No problem starting diesel in cold weather.

Plenty of storage compartments designed in dash board.

I also have a 2003 Ram with the HO Cummings. I love it, but I also get a strong diesel fuel odor in the cabin when at idle. I brought it to the dealer twice and they cannot fix it any ideas???

Our 2003 Dodge Ram 3500/2WD-Dually/Quad Cab has a rather noisy clang-clang-clang sound in the engine (Cummins 600). It sounds a lot like the older diesel engines. It was extremely quiet when we first bought it, but continues to grow louder. In the past two weeks, the dealer has incurred $2600+ in repairs and the noise remains. We currently have two friends in the same situation with these motors. We're waiting for one additional repair before a regional service rep is brought in to determine whether a new engine will be installed or we'll be trading "sticker for sticker" on a new truck. I suppose we'll see what happens.

I have a 2004 1/2 Dodge 3500 Cummins HO 6 speed manual. The only time I get any hint of diesel in the cab is at idle with air vent selector in the "outside air" position. Try rotating the knob so air is drawn from inside the cab only (the two left most positions on the dial). Otherwise if the wind happens to be blowing from the rear of your truck, it will likely also blow the exhaust forward to where the cabin-air intake is located, suck it into the system, and blow it into the cab. Just a thought...
