What things have gone wrong with the car?

I've only owned the car (a Japanese import) 10 months to date & I have had no trouble other than a small water leak into the boot & an annoying roof rattle. Both easily cured by myself.

General comments?

Generally a very nice small car. The performance is excellent as you would expect from 160hp in a small 2 seater. Handling is very good but the ride is a bit too firm for comfort & the car is a bit noisy at speed due to the high revving engine (red lined at 8,200rpm). The targa top is easily removed & stowed in the boot making it a brilliant car for summer. The boot, even with the roof in, is quite large (except electric roof models) making it a very usable small car.

I own a 1993 Honda del Sol SI and have encountered the same problem where the roof rattles and leaks. I was wondering how you were able to correct this problem? Please respond to Sugarstars4@aol.com. Thanks!

My wife & I felt the need of a 2nd car, and we decided to get another CRX, but when I saw the delSol, I had to have it. Great pick-up, 97,000 miles (used) and stylish looks at an affordable price.

Can complain about leaks in the trunk (that's "boot" to you), but won't. The car is too sweet. Our 5-speed SI looks great in black, but I've seen a god-awful grasshopper green color that makes this buggy look like a cheap toy.

Overall, this incarnation of the Civic CRX continues to deliver all that it promises in the Honda tradition.

Regarding the roof leaks and rattles, I have read where Honda has re-engineered the seals for the roof. See the following

http://www.interjaune.com/wwwboard/messages/295.html. I have a 1994 del Sol Si, have not experienced these problems. Great car! Great car company!

I too have trouble with a rattling roof and also my transmission. I bought the car at 79k miles and it nows has 102k. My tranny doesn't want to switch out of 2nd gear. Is this normal for most Del Sol tranny's. I heard the 97 Del Sol had a recall on their transmissions.?

I also recently bought a 1994 VTEC del Sol and have encountered the roof leak and rattle of the targa top.

Please give advice on solving this problem. I also feel that the VTEC is not kicking in, and am wondering if you know how to add more performance or horsepower to the car.

Thanks

There should be a way you can adjust the electric targa top. Performance parts are all over the net, email me if you wanna know them.

Various leaks. My 4th Del Sol. Love the car. This one is a 1993 just purchased January 2002 with 30,000 miles. I did not have the leaking problem with the other three, a 93,94 and a 96. Totaled the 96. My ideal car is a convertible, small, sporty and great gas mileage, reasonably priced. This is the only car that fits the bill, (that I know of).

My husband has a 93 Del Sol which he loves. He has the same leaking and rattling problem, though he is only concerned about the leaks.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Have heard about the leaky and rattling roof and been told that lubricating it on a regular basis is a big help. Go to a Honda Dealer for more information on lubrication.
