From the day I took it off the lot the driver's side window has been tough
to open. It's not too crash-worthy: When I got into a small accident it cost well over $2,000 to fix this $7,500 car. The brakes stink compared with
every other car I've driven in 30 years. It barely operates in the tiniest
bit of snow. The 5-speed car has aways make kind of funny noises when shifting -- it's not smooth like most other manual transmission cars.
The engine light has gone off & on, practically since I bought it. The dealer tried to charge me $85 to "diagnose" the ill-designed problem: apparently when the gas cap isn't on tight (and God knows when else), it
makes the engine light go on. But the biggest problem sparked this e-complaint. Today, at only 47,000 miles, the clutch or the transmission totally blew. And that, apparently isn't covered by Hyundai's so-called
wonderful warranty. Has anyone else had problems with the clutch or
transmission?
See above. I'd never buy a Hyundai again.
I have a 2001 Accent GL with an automatic transmission which has been replaced twice already. I bought the car new in September of 2000 and paid $14,000 for a junker. The first time it was replaced the car only had 25,000miles on it; the most recent time it had 52,800. This last time I was stuck in another state for eight hours because I couldn't rent a car; so much for the best roadside assistance plan. your problem should definitely be covered under your warranty. this is my last Hyundai!!!
I bought a new 2000 Hyundai Accent and now have 124,000-kms on it. The major problems that I have with this car are I have twice had a bent hub on the left front wheel, all my wheels have been straightened a couple of times, and this is just from normal driving on some of our not-too-good roads in Winnipeg. These repairs were not covered by my extended warranty. I had an accident and my seat-belt did not lock and hold me back in my seat. I still have whiplash almost a year later. I also have a major problem driving this car on icy roads. I have tried four different brands of tires. I now have winter tires, 60-lbs. of weight on the floor in the back and still slide all over.
You need to learn how to drive in winter. I can go 65 with goodyear viva2 tires that are at 40% on a somewhat straight road.
